BattleShop would like to congratulate the TOP 3 Closets in last week’s VALENTINE’S DAY TO NIGHT shopping challenge! Each of our players designed Closets for day and night dates with that special someone. They ousted the other players in their leagues to make it to the FINALS and then they campaigned hardest for the most votes to be the TOP 3 so they each receive one item under $50 from their Closets!

Lana Rozumyk chose this dot print oversized scarf from Nordstrom as her prize this week.

This Jessica Simpson Ursula satchel from is going to Jennifer Schmid.

Elizabeth Mikulis is receiving these Chinese Laundry patent leather, nude Savvy pumps from DSW.

New to BattleShop? Here’s how it works:

– Head to and click the orange START A NEW BATTLE button once you’ve signed in.

– Use our search bar to find the required items on our OSCARS RED CARPET fashion roster. Add all of the things you love to your Fitting Room as you shop, like you would in a real fitting room.

– Once you’ve found the pieces you want to compete with, move the required items to your Closet. Your $15,000 battlebudget will decrease as you move items to the Closet. Be sure to stay within your budget!

– When all of the categories in the Closet are full, click the LOCK button at the bottom of the roster and your Closet will be submitted to a voting league. Be sure to LOCK at least ONE closet by Friday at 11:59 pm (EST).

– First you’ll vote within your league and if you WIN, you’ll move on to the FINALS where you’ll compete for SOMETHING UNDER $50 FROM YOUR CLOSET! Not bad for online fantasy shopping, are we right?

She's All That

She’s All That – Cate the Great

Whether she’s royally nailing the role of Queen Elizabeth or bearing rings and speaking Elvish by way of J.R.R. Tolkien, don’t you worry, Cate Blanchett’s got it covered. The Australian actress who had been running a theater company in Sydney with her husband has been splitting her focus between the stage and motherhood (3 boys), leading to her selectivity when choosing roles. I guess when your big screen debut earns you a Golden Globe and an Oscar nomination as Queen Elizabeth I, your standards are set relatively high.

Like most talented actresses Cate’s not chasing awards and was convinced her film career was over after her concentrated focus on the theater company. Live performances have brought her a depth of experience that film hadn’t previously given her. She has said of performing live, “The role is secondary. It’s about who you are being directed by and who the other actors are.” Her role as a fallen-from-grace socialite in Blue Jasmine and the accolades that have followed were completely unexpected.

Cate is prepping to hit the stage again on March 2nd, this time as an Oscar nominee for her role in Blue Jasmine. The actress already took home the Golden Globe for Best Actress on January 12th in a gorgeous black lace gown by Armani Prive and a BAFTA award for Best Actress on February 16th in a short-sleeved Alexander McQueen gown. We think she could wear a paper sack to any event and still be one of the most stunning women in the room. Best of luck to you, Cate!
